District to Continue Feeding those in Need

On Monday, August 31, the U.S. Department of Agriculture extended the free summer meal program to December 31, 2020. What this means is Longview Schools will continue providing free meals to those who need them at selected schools and the four mobile pick up locations.

Starting Tuesday, September 8, meals will be distributed at the locations and times below. Both a breakfast and lunch will be distributed each day and the meals are free to any child age 0 to 18. The meals will be served Monday through Friday:

11:45am – 12:00pm: Archie Anderson Park & Baker’s Corner Convenience Store

12:00pm – 12:30pm: Northlake Elementary, St Helens Elementary, Mint Valley Elementary, Monticello Middle School, Columbia Heights Elementary, Kessler Elementary.

12:15pm – 12:30pm: Community House on Broadway & Youth and Family Link.

To accommodate working families, students do not need to be present to pick up meals. Parents, families member and guardians can pick up meals for students who are home attending to schoolwork.

The normal school meal program will go into effect in January of 2021. We encourage families to plan and prepare for when the summer meal program extension ends by downloading a “free and reduced” meal form at and turn in the signed application to your school.

Please remember, any child from birth to age 18 is eligible for free meals and the kids do not need to present to receive food. Please wear a face covering and practice physical distancing when picking up meals. If you have questions, or need information about the meal program extension, please call the district nutrition office at 360-575-7172.
