Dear Parents and Families,
We are reaching out to provide you with an update regarding special education supports and services for the upcoming school year. The District Special Education Department will provide updates on a weekly or every other week schedule.
Special Education Personnel have been busily preparing for the start of the school year. Some important reminders and information for you to know:
- We will prioritize implementation of IEPs in the fall. Specifically, you will hear from your child’s special education teacher no later than September 4 to discuss the schedule and implementation of your child’s IEP. You will be provided with a schedule that details when their IEP goal(s) and specially designed instruction will be provided.
- We will strive to support on-site instruction in a 1:1 format for those students who did not access or who did not benefit from remote learning in the spring. We will prioritize those who have severe disabilities. On-site will be a minimum of 2 hours, 2-3 days a week.
- We have spent the summer improving the remote learning model which will assist with implementation efforts and ease of access for students and parents.
- We realize you may have questions and concerns. Your first point of contact is your child’s special education teacher. We have asked teachers to arrange a check in with parents at least every other week to gather input to guide remote learning efforts.
Thank-you for your patience and support. We are all in this together! We look forward to working with your child and are eager for the first day of school.
