Longview Public Schools accepts bus driver resignation

At a special board meeting this morning, the Longview Schools Board of Directors moved to accept the resignation of the school bus driver arrested earlier this month for allegedly driving under the influence while on the job.  This means the bus driver is no longer employed by the district.

“The safety and security of students and staff is a top priority at Longview Schools,” Superintendent Dan Zorn said. “Putting our students at risk with irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated.”

After a thorough investigation of the incident, the district implemented a new safety procedure that improved the process for screening drivers prior to driving their routes. A Washington State Department of Education transportation expert also reviewed district operations and determined no additional safety measures were needed.

Zorn went on to say, “With this situation behind us, we will continue our focus on providing students an outstanding education.”

The Longview Schools transportation department is an award winning team of individuals with an outstanding safety record.
