Notable musicians win state honors

Orchestra on stageLongview students representing Southwest Washington bested other outstanding musicians from around the state in Ellensburg, WA April 27 and 28 at the annual Washington Music Educator’s Association State Solo and Ensemble Content.

The combined R.A. Long and Mark Morris Large Group Orchestra, comprised of R.A. Long students Megan Willis,  Eleanor Stalick, Reagan Gosselin, Christopher Ofstun, Roman Stalick, and Delaney Morgan with Mark Morris students Sarah Sanchez, Chloe Compton, Caroline Nesterkin, and Josette Shepherd received Superior Ratings.

Other accomplishments of the Longview musicians include:

  • Eleanor Stalick (R.A. Long) earned superior ratings for Cello Solo.
  • Isabel Buckingham (Mark Morris) won first place out of all students in the state for Multiple Percussion.
  • Shana Busch (Mark Morris) also received a superior rating for Multiple Percussion.
  • Seth Klander (R.A. Long) received a superior rating for Percussion Timpani Solo.
  • Grant Bowser (R.A. Long) received superior ratings for (vocal) Bass Solo.
  • Rose Smith (R.A. Long) received superior ratings for (vocal) Alto Solo.
