Who’s your star polisher? “Jodi Kruse,” writes Katelyn Hyatt, a student at R.A. Long. Why? “Mrs. Kruse is one of the most patient and kind teachers I’ve ever met in my student life. It’s always a joy to come to her class and do the tasks she has for me. … Her class has introduced me to a path in life I’ve never thought of. I want to become a librarian technician, and I learn a lot of what that means in her class. It’s always wonderful talking with her. You always almost have her full attention and she won’t hesitate to help you if you’re struggling … . She has shown me the joys of working in a library, and I will carry that with me even after I graduate.”

As part of our district’s focus on student connectedness, we shared part of a poem called “The Star Polisher” with our high school students and invited them to consider how Longview Public Schools staff have made a difference to them. Read about more of our stars and star polishers here.
