Monarch rewarded for community leadership

Amber Torell scholarship winnerMark Morris senior Amber Torell is the first-ever Longview student to be awarded a $1,000 Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center of Quality Communities Scholarship.

Amber is one of six recipients statewide to receive the award for community leadership and commitment to their city. Her work as co-chair of the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL) showcased her leadership skills, and she was recognized by the AWSL executive director as one of the top co-chairs of the past 25 years.

Amber will be honored at the AWC Qualities Communities Luncheon in Vancouver on Thursday, June 22 and at an upcoming Longview City Council meeting.
